Privacy Policy
SL Radio+ ("the app", "we") streams Sri Lankan radio stations. This policy explains what information the app and the services it uses collect, why, and the choices you have. The app has no accounts and we never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
Information that stays on your iPhone
- Favourites, station order, listening counts and your recently played stations are stored only on your device.
- Recordings you make are saved as audio files on your device. We never upload them.
- Widgets, Control Center controls and Shortcuts read a small copy of your station list, the station logos and the current station from a folder shared between the app and its widgets, on your device.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
SL Radio+ is free and is supported by ads. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, which may show ads from Google and from the advertising partners Google works with.
To show, measure and limit the frequency of ads, and to prevent ad fraud, Google and its partners may collect:
- Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you allow tracking when iOS asks;
- the identifier for vendor (IDFV), your IP address and an approximate location derived from it (country/city level, not GPS);
- device information such as model, iOS version, language, time zone, screen size and network type;
- information about the ads you see and tap.
If you allow tracking, ads may be personalised based on your activity in other companies' apps and websites. If you don't, you will still see ads, but they won't be personalised using the IDFA.
See how Google uses information from apps that use its services and Google's privacy policy.
Analytics, crash reports and notifications (Google Firebase)
- Firebase Analytics records how the app is used (for example which station was played, or that the sleep timer was started), together with device information and an app-instance identifier, so we can improve the app.
- Firebase Crashlytics sends a crash report when the app crashes: device and iOS details, the state of the app and the station that was playing.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging uses a push token to deliver notifications, only if you allow notifications.
- Firebase Realtime Database, Storage and Remote Config deliver the station list, station logos and app settings. They don't receive personal information from you.
See Firebase privacy and security for details.
Radio streams
When you play a station, your iPhone connects directly to that broadcaster's streaming server, which, like any website, receives your IP address. The stations are run by independent broadcasters under their own policies.
New Songs (YouTube)
The New Songs screen lists recent Sri Lankan music videos published on YouTube. When you play one, it plays in YouTube's own embedded player inside the app, which connects to YouTube and is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy. YouTube may receive your IP address and information about the video you watch. Nothing is sent to YouTube until you play a video. If you allow notifications, we may tell you about new songs; turn this off with the bell on the New Songs screen.
Your choices
- Tracking: choose "Ask App Not to Track" when prompted, or change it any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.
- Consent (EEA, UK, Switzerland and US states with privacy laws): where required, the app shows a consent form from Google on first launch. You can withdraw consent by contacting us or by reinstalling the app, which shows the form again.
- Apple's own ads: Settings › Privacy & Security › Apple Advertising.
- Notifications: Settings › Notifications › SL Radio+.
- Delete local data: deleting the app removes favourites and recordings from your iPhone.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data, to object to its processing, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for advertising. Because we don't hold accounts, most data is held by the providers above; contact us and we'll help you exercise your rights with them. We do not sell personal information for money.
Children
SL Radio+ is not directed at children under 13 (under 16 in the EEA), and we don't knowingly collect their personal information.
Data retention and security
Data held by our service providers is kept according to their own retention policies. Data is sent over encrypted connections where the provider supports it.
Changes
We'll update this page when the app's data practices change and revise the date at the top.
